ABOUT THIS PISTACHIO VANILLA CHAI LATTE
Here it is! My first true coffee shop style beverage recipe on Hanna Bee Eatin! I’m finally getting around to it. I stumbled upon this recipe on accident testing out a new potential organic syrup brand for the shop. They had sent a chai sample as well and I just started throwing things together. I’m not a big milk fan in my drinks or in general. I’m definitely in the tiny 5% of the population on that one. Took me a while actually to figure out that I actually don’t like lattes. As I grew more knowledgable and explored coffee more, I’ve graduated from that latte I never really loved to now just straight espresso (with caramel) haha.
Just cracks me up because lattes are definitely a customer go-to proving even more I’m definitely not in the majority of taste buds here- Anywho, this one I could drink even with the milk (coconut milk for me!) especially with pistachio being so popular right now. I definitely recommend you try this deliciously unexpected flavor combo the next time you’re looking for a chai pick me up!
ALTERNATIVES
Milk.
My personal fav is coconut milk. Choose which ever milk is your fav.
Syrups.
My fav brand is Holy Kakow. Another cute trendy syrup brand I encourage you to try is Surrup.Feel free to use the vanilla and pistachio syrup brand of your choice.
Chai.
There’s a couple good small batch high quality brands of chai I recommend: Firepot, Tiger Chai, Tea Huntress and Holy Kakow. I used Holy Kakow in my recipe.
PLANET FRIENDLY POINTS
We recently started using Tiger Chai for our coffee company by The First Sip because of its small batch high quality nature which of course is a must, but also because they support Tiger conservation. Tigers are actually at great risk mostly because of humans destroying their habitats. A portion of each sale goes towards this cause. Tigers are actually endangered there’s approx 3,00-5000 give or take Tigers left on this planet.
INGREDIENTS
- 4oz chai concentrate
- 4oz milk
- 1 pump vanilla syrup
- 1 pump pistachio syrup
- 1 teaspoon chlorophyll (optional for color & health benefits)
RECIPE STEPS
Add milk and optional chlorophyll
Add milk (4oz) then chlorophyll (1 teaspoon). As you can see here it literally adds the most beautiful swirls if you don’t mix. Mixing is recommended now for flavors melding and a more even tasting drink, but don’t mix here if you want to save the swirly layers for photos! (then mix after)

Add ice
Add your ice. The ice creates a barrier to prevent your chai from mixing right away and to keep those pretty swirls in tact! This (especially for when we’re adding an espresso shot to a drink) is called a floating shot. In this case it’s floating chai!

Add chai
Of course now we add the chai concentrate (4oz). Get those pics in and mix away, enjoy all the deliciousness!

TIPS
- Chai concentrate will pretty much always be an even ratio to the amount of milk you’re putting in! If you want a larger drink worth, then raise your chai concentrate verse milk amounts evenly.
- Watch how much ice you add so you have enough room for the 4oz of chai. I like to eyeball it!
COMPATIBLE RECIPES
This Pistachio Vanilla Chai would pair so perfectly with these Pistachio Bites!
If you’re looking for a fruity or drink option, I suggest you try one of these:
Strawberry Mango Blended Lemonade
EXPIRATION & STORAGE
Best enjoyed fresh! Ice will melt and dilute the drink.
