ABOUT THIS Blended Strawberry Mango Lemonade

Through limited resources in the recent former East Nashville shop, we quickly realized blending juices is another way to get delicious fresh juice without paying for an extremely expensive juice maker! Especially as a small business those payments hit hard. We never released any of the beverages on the menu, at least as of yet so I figure why not share one with you here and see what you think! Positive and negative feedback is welcome. I will note, due to having no filtrating systems in a juicer you will get more pulp, which on a positive note, actually leaves more nutrients in the juice. If it’s not your style feel free to strain out any unwanted pulp here since this is a thicker drink. Excited to see what you think!

ALTERNATIVES

Agave.

Feel free to sub for honey or a natural cane sugar.

Alcohol.

Add your favorite alcohol for a yummy cocktail!

Lemons.

You can use pre-squeezed lemon juice it just won’t be quite as fresh.

Strawberries & Mangoes.

Feel free to microwave/defrost frozen fruit like I did for this recipe or use fresh.

PLANET FRIENDLY POINTS

Of you’re feeling super eco friendly.. Did you know you can actually eat the peel and seeds of a lemon? It will leave more pulp of course and add a bitter edge with the rind, but you can save waste by doing so! Another good way to make this recipe eco friendly is to compost your strawberry green tops and lemon peels for the nitrogen that plants love!!

RECIPE STEPS

1 Cut or defrost the fruit

If your mango and strawberries are not frozen skip this step!: Microwave, strawberries, and mangoes until they are still cold, but soft to touch. Should be approx 1 min each

If your mangoes and strawberries are fresh: Pull off the green strawberry tops. No need to cut the top of the strawberry. We want the whole strawberry! It’s ok to leave bits of the stem or pedicel behind that the leaves were on.

If you’re wanting the extra nutrients leave the green strawberry leaves! They may not be sweet, but they’re packed full of Vitamin C. Much more actually than the actual strawberries themselves!

2 Squeeze the lemons

Squeeze the juice from your lemons (approx 4 lemons) into the blender. It won’t taste quite as fresh, but pre-squeeze lemon juice (1 cup) will work as well.

3 Add the rest of your ingredients:

2 cup fresh strawberries (or defrosted from frozen)

1 cup fresh mango (or defrosted from frozen)

1 cup agave

2 cups water

Blended Strawberry Mango Lemonade ingredients laid out.

4 Blend

Blend on high till you get a juice consistency for approx 60 seconds. Go longer if you’d like. The more you blend the more blended together the flavors will be.

I also recommend adding ice if serving immediately. Keep chilled in the fridge for serving as it tastes best cold.

TIPS

  • Use a strainer to get rid of any unwanted pulp.
  • Add a liquor of choice for a fun cocktail. Add an orange peel garnish or edible flower sugar rim. This recipe would pair well with just about any liquor: bourbon, tequila, rum, vodka. You could even try Malibu or champagne for a fancy mimosa.
